Let Your Wine Exude Elegance From the Box to the Bottle
Whether it’s a rare vintage or a young varietal sold in grocery stores, you can’t deny that wine has always been associated with heritage traditions and special occasions. So regardless if you are marketing your vino to an older crowd or a younger generation, your product should exude high quality and style to stand out. You can start with your wine packaging, specifically by creating custom wine boxes.
All the Customization Options You Need in One Place
Customizing your wine bottle boxes from scratch is fast and easy. With the help of our website’s built-in price calculator, you can choose the specifications of your wine boxes and immediately see the total price of your order. To help you out, we’ve covered all the important aspects in creating your custom wine boxes below:
Determine the size of your wine boxes.
The first thing you need to do when creating your custom box is to determine its length, width, and height. You can customize your wine box dimensions based on the following ranges: 0.75" x 30" (length), 0.75" x 20" (width), and 1.75" x 20" (height).
Consider the size of your wine bottle when setting the dimensions of your wine boxes. The recommended box size is 0.25" larger than the bottle dimension, measured from the widest part of the bottle.
Popular 750 ml. Wine Bottle Sizes and Recommended Box Sizes:
Bottle | Bottle Dimensions | Box Internal Dimensions |
Bordeaux | 2.75 x 2.75 x 11.75 | 3 x 3 x 12 |
Pinot | 3.125 x 3.125 x 11.875 | 3.375 x 3.375 x 12.125 |
Champagne | 3.25 x 3.25 x 12.25 | 3.5 x 3.5 x 12.5 |
While these are the typical bottle dimensions, measure your bottle to make sure it fits.
Pick cardstock or corrugated cardboard.
You have two options when it comes to the material of your wine boxes: cardstock and corrugated cardboard. Cardstock is available in 14 pt., 18 pt., and 24 pt. thickness. For standard 750 ml. Bordeaux, Pinot and Champagne bottles, the 24 pt. cardstock is ideal. We also highly recommend a sticker to seal the bottom and support the weight of the bottle. For a quarter bottle—also known as Piccolos or Splits—that holds 187.5 ml of wine (equivalent to a single serving of Champagne), a wine box made from a 14 pt. or 18 pt. cardstock is more than up for the job. For a half-liter bottle (slightly smaller than the standard wine bottle), the 24 pt. cardstock is the ideal material for its wine box.
As for corrugated cardboard wine boxes, they are more suitable for heavier, taller, and bulkier wine bottles. It can be used for housing a Jeroboam (4.5 liters), Salmanazar (9 liters), and even a Nebuchadnezzar (15 liters). Corrugated cardboard is offered in three options including standard white corrugated cardboard, premium white corrugated cardboard with glossy ink, and Kraft (brown) corrugated cardboard.
Choose the printed sides.
Maximize the spaces on your wine boxes by printing on both the inside and outside panels. You can print typography or an attractive artwork on the inner panel of the top lid, which elevates the experience when your customers open their wine box. Or go with the usual where only the outside of the box is printed. You can also choose to order wine boxes that have no prints if you prefer to keep things simple and minimal. Whatever it is that you go for, keep in mind that your wine box has enough real estate that you can utilize to boost your branding.

Make Your Wine Boxes Look Premium Through Design.
From box to bottle, the presentation of your wine should be stellar. The design of your wine boxes shouldn’t only provide important information like alcohol content, net weight, the vintage year, country of origin, and any allergen warnings and use of sulfites. It also needs to capture the attention of your customers and promote your brand. If you are going for an elegant aesthetic, use intricate lines and subtle color palettes on your wine boxes. However, make sure that it is consistent with your branding. Consistency is key in boosting your product’s brand recognition.
You can create your own design on our website using our online 3D design tool. With its intuitive and responsive interface, you can easily add graphic elements to your box design such as your logo, tagline, and artwork. You can also insert shapes, lines, and text using our 3D design tool. If designing is not for you, you can place your order for your wine boxes first and then receive a dieline template from us. This dieline template can be used by a professional graphic designer in creating a design for your custom wine boxes. Once you have the design, make sure to upload it on our website so we can review it.
Start by measuring the items you want to put inside the box. You can assemble and group the products together to simulate how it would look like packed inside. Measure the length, width, and depth of the space it occupies. Add an inch or two on the sides to make it easy to pack and unpack.

FOL stands for full overlap box. The flaps of the box extend all the way to the opposite side. This adds extra padding and increases durability and protection.
